Ask for Help


I dropped my backpack onto my bed and ran to my phone. I answered on the very last ring and burst into a detailed explanation of my day only to hear sobs.


The heat was overwhelming. Sweat trickled down my forehead in steady, eye-stinging beads. I bent over to grab another bundle of rice seedlings, and
suddenly the world went out in a white hot flash.

Fashion Design


My name is Gianni and I really want to be a fashion designer. I believe that if you can’t imagine yourself doing anything else but that thing, then that what you should be doing.

My Mother

When I was in elementary school, I would always be teased because I was born in China and my English wasn’t the best. English isn’t an easy language to learn since there are so many exceptions and loopholes. School was a place I didn’t I want to be.

Vision Center


I never imagined that by swimming, a Vision Center in India would be built. And I certainly never thought so many people could be cured of blindness there.

Simple Student

A simple, different, smart, and determined person is the description of me. I’m a simple student at _ High School who everyday works hard to accomplish my dreams. I study in a school of diverse ethnically people, but that is what inspires me to achieve my goals.

I Love the Rain

I love the rain, especially in the summer when it's been hot and muggy, and the rain starts pouring down with seemingly merciful intentions. It was this type of rain that fell during my second night of work at a local farm stand. Only this was the hardest rain I had ever seen.

If somebody were to ask me, 'What invention had the greatest impact in your life?' I would not hesitate to say 'jigsaw puzzles.' The jigsaw puzzles had the biggest impact on my life.

A Visit to Rural Kenya
